| When
we decided to incorporate essential oils into our product formulations
over 10 years ago, we began to search for the best source for our essential
oils. After all, we were growing our own herbs organically and making
the purest products we could possibly make, so we didn’t want to
add anything inferior to our high quality products.
Our Suppliers:
We
purchase our essential oils from reputable suppliers, who in turn work
with reputable growers and distillers. We have a long established relationship
with our suppliers whom we have come to know, trust and respect. Our suppliers
also have long established relationships with their growers and distillers,
sometimes acquiring the oils from the same people for over 20 years.
It
is this knowing of your source for essential oils that helps to guarantee
the quality of the oil. Our suppliers will not take oils that are inferior
in any way and will return any shipments that do not meet their high standards.
Sometimes this means an oil is out of stock until a high quality oil is
sourced. We appreciate this commitment to quality, even if it sometimes
inconveniences our business.
Our
suppliers strive to ensure that people, animals and the environment are
all treated ethically in the production of our essential oils. No testing
is done on animals. Our suppliers regularly meet and evaluate growers
and distillers around the world to ensure their stringent quality standards
are met. MSDS information is supplied upon request (please allow 3 weeks).
The oils that we receive
meet ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards set
for quality and are internationally certified. This means that our oils
are pure and are of the quality standard that we state they are.
Quality, Purity, & Analytical Testing:
Our
essential oils are 100% pure, natural plant products, of high quality
therapeutic grade and are free of chemicals. We ensure our oils are property
stored in cool, dark conditions and in glass containers before they are
sold to you.
When
essential oils are used for health or therapeutic purposes, it is imperative
that they are pure and of high-quality. The oils that we purchase are
guaranteed to be not grown with pesticides or fertilizers. The plants
used in the processing of the oils are wildgathered (ethically) and are
organically grown. Our oils are not labeled “organic” due to
this standard not existing in the many remote parts of the world that
our oils come from. There is not at this time an internationally recognized
body or standard for organic certification. We feel it is unethical to
sell such products as organic, at prices currently charged by some companies.
The
oils we use are carefully extracted to ensure the beneficial properties
are present in the oils. This is important because using adulterated or
poor-quality essential oils may result in no therapeutic benefit, and
at worst, may result in unexpected toxic reactions. In addition, some
unscrupulous distillers or sellers alter essential oils by diluting, cutting,
or extending them, and then sell them as “pure”. Our essential
oils are analyzed by a testing lab to ensure their purity. However, the
truth of the matter is, it can be extremely difficult to ensure the quality
of an essential oil, because it may have passed through many hands before
it reaches the consumer (thus knowing your source helps immensely). There
are a few techniques for analyzing essential oil purity, but there is
no technique available which can analyze an oil so thoroughly as to absolutely
guarantee its purity.
Many
companies claim their oils to be “the best”. We claim that our
oils are as good as theirs, if not better!
