physical & spiritual well being

|
|
Inhalation
Place 3-4 drops on a handkerchief or tissue to inhale. Try Eucalyptus/Lemon/Tea
Tree/Thyme/Sage for nasal decongestion, blocked sinuses, during a cold.
Use Bergamot/Lavender/Chamomile/Petitgrain on a tissue under your
pillow at night for help relaxing and getting a good nights’ sleep.
Steam Inhalation
For colds and respiratory problems add 6 - 12 drops to a bowl of steaming
water. Place a towel over your head and
breath deeply. Try Eucalyptus/ Peppermint/ Tea Tree/Thyme.
Foot bath
Add 4 - 5 drops of Peppermint and Eucalyptus to a foot bath to refresh
your tired feet.
Baths
Run a hot bath and add 5 - 15 drops of an essential oil to suit your mood.
Close the door to keep the vapours in the room. Soak for 15 - 20 minutes.
Inhale the vapours while you absorb the essence through your skin at the
same time. Try Lavender/Clary Sage/Patchouli/Ylang Ylang/Chamomile for
a calming and relaxing effect, Geranium/Rosewood/Palmarosa for balancing,
Grapefruit/Orange for uplifting, Grapefruit/Rosemary/Basil/Pine for energizing.
Massage Oil/Lotion
Use your favorite unscented body lotion or almond/hemp/sunflower oil &
add 10-30 drops of essential oil. Try Eucalyptus/Rosemary/Pine/Birch/Ginger/Cajeput/Wintergreen
for relief of muscular aches and pains. Ylang Ylang/ Patchouli/Sandalwood
produce an aphrodisiac effect for a romantic massage. Rosewood/Rose Geranium
relax & at the same time uplift & enliven. Orange/Tangerine/Grapefruit/Wintergreen/Rosemary
are invigorating. Geranium is balancing.
Skin lotion
Add 1-5 drops to 30 mls or 1fl. oz. of lotion. Use Carrot Seed/Geranium/Lavender/Orange/Palmarosa/Benzoin.
Compresses
Often used for swollen joints, aches and pains. Fill a basin with hot
water and add several drops of the essential oil you have selected for
this purpose. Stir the water well, then place a towel on top of the water.
The towel will absorb the oils, which rise to the top of the water. Wring
out the towel and place over the affected area. Cover with a dry towel.
You may want to add a hot water bottle and cover with a third towel. Use
Lavender/Tea Tree for burns. Clary Sage/Cypress to abdominal area for
menstrual pain.
Diffusion
This is the most effective way of dispersing oils into the atmosphere
of your home or office. Many essential oils can destroy airborne bacteria,
fungus & mold when diffused. They also provide increased "natural" ozone
levels, which inhibits bacteria growth, & increases the amount of oxygen
in the air. Diffused oils also help eliminate offensive odours & provide
a fresh, natural fragrance. Most important is that diffusion is an excellent
way to derive the emotional, physical mental & spiritual benefits that
essential oils can offer. Diffuse essential oils for 10-15 minutes several
times per day.
Use 1-5 drops of oil, depending
on diffuser type and design. Choose essential oil to suit your mood. Peppermint
is a wake-up call, Patchouli for relaxing, Orange/Sage for uplifting,
Eucalyptus/Lemon/Lime/Rosemary for freshening, Lavender/Rosewood/Chamomile
for sedating/calming, Sandalwood for grounding.
There are many more uses
of essential oils…when added to an appropriate carrier oil or lotion they
can assist in healing a
variety of skin conditions. Enhance your health, well being and quality
of life by using these potent gifts from nature. |

USEFUL
INFORMATION FOR USING ESSENTIAL OILS:
Do not ingest essential oils.
When blending oils use glass, porcelain, or aluminum containers and storage
bottles.
Do not use plastic – it will spoil your oil & ruin the bottle as the essence
will be absorbed into the plastic.
Store in dark bottles. Keep away from heat & light. The oils will deteriorate
quickly if exposed to sunlight & high heat.
Always dilute with a carrier oil. Remember, using more oil does not necessarily
increase its benefits.
Only Lavender, Neem & Tea Tree oil may be applied directly on skin, undiluted,
in small amounts.
When using the following oils, do not expose skin to direct sunlight or
ultraviolet light, as it may cause photo-sensitization.
The oils are: Angelica, Bergamot, Dill, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin,
Orange, Patchouli, Rue, Tangerine & Verbena.
Keep essential oils safely out of reach of children.
